Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be a medical professional to volunteer abroad?

No. Anyone can be a volunteer! The projects you can support are varied and the needs are great. Students, retirees, administrators, IT professionals, entrepreneurs, financial professionals and all other types of professionals have volunteered with Impact Global Health Alliance. From construction, education, and health to computer training, teams and individuals.

No matter your profession or experience, you can provide valuable support. Each volunteer will be matched to a project based on their skills and desires as they match with the needs of our partners, to create a mutually-beneficial and high-impact experience.

Health professionals are always welcome and can provide direct services along with educational trainings for our partners. Health education training is our number one priority from medical volunteers because their knowledge leaves a long-lasting impact.

How old do you have to be to go on a trip?

You must be at least 14 years old to volunteer with a parent, and 16 years old to volunteer abroad without a parent.

Are there any language requirements to volunteer abroad?

There are no language requirements to volunteer on an expedition trip. Interpreters will be provided for volunteer groups to Guatemala. However, having language skills will enrich your experience and deepen your interactions with our partners and beneficiaries. So, start studying!

Spanish language is required for individual volunteers who are not part of a group and are participating in long-term internships.

Are my payments tax deductible?

Yes, Impact Global Health Alliance is a 501(c)(3) organization and contributions are deductible to the full extent under IRS regulations. Please contact your tax advisor with any questions.
