John Blackwell & fellow Fayetteville Academy volunteers traveling in Guatemala

An Update from the Field:

An Update from the Field. Day 1: Landed in Guatemala City, a very busy place, people running everywhere, jumping on buses. People everywhere. I’m here to help the project and today we are in a more rural landscape, though in this town lots of people everywhere. In Huehuetenango there are a lot more dogs than in Guatemala City just roaming around. The food we had today is a lot different than other food I have ever had and it’s good. The chips and salsa as part of lunch are more thick and the beans are black beans and mashed. The people on the trip, who I am going to spend the rest of the week with are fun to be around and easy going. There is more work to be had and I think it will be fun because of the people we are with.
