On January 28th, we held our 3rd annual Impact Global Health Alliance Partners Symposium via video conference. This annual conference provides a community forum for our partners to come together and learn from each other. This year’s participating partners included Consejo de Salud Rural Andino (Bolivia), Consejo de Salud Rural Andino-Montero (Bolivia), CCATE (USA), Nehnwaa Project (Liberia), KIKOP (Kenya), and Impact Global Health Alliance Guatemala (Guatemala).

Conference in Action

At the conference, Dr. Henry Perry, founder of Impact Global Health Alliance Global, led the partners in a discussion on the Census-Based Impact-Oriented (CBIO) methodology. Dr. Perry’s CBIO method is an innovative approach that is central to Impact Global Health Alliance’ success. During discussion, each partner had the opportunity to present their understandings, implementations, and challenges associated with using the CBIO method in their respective service areas. When one partner inquired about the cost-effectiveness of the CBIO methodology, more experienced partners were able to share how the methodology is a good investment by reducing deaths. Further, partners provided data illustrating the impact of the CBIO methodology on mortality in their own service areas. Discussion continues beyond the conference as our partners now have colleagues they can turn to when questions and challenges arise.

“Partners in Health”

Although this type of interaction may be unfamiliar to some of our partners, it allows us to develop our international community network. This symposium facilitates

our partners’ capacity to speak about their work. Learning from each other is valuable not only for sharing knowledge but also for empowering our partners and showcasing the important work they do.

This unique experience reflects Impact Global Health Alliance’ strong commitment to our partners. All participants were grateful for the symposium as well as the support of the Impact Global Health Alliance community. One partner shared that “the symposium is very essential to our learning from each other”. Another commented that “[Impact Global Health Alliance Global has a] holistic approach that is respectful of their culture. Communities are partners in health. That’s what CBIO and Impact Global Health Alliance Global is all about.”

We hope to continue with the annual symposium alongside increased collaboration through a central online platform. Our goal is to empower our partners and enable them to bring health to their communities.
