We are now at the mid-term of our Family Planning project in Liberia and we are seeing incredible results already.  This intervention is currently a one-year project and not only have we surpassed almost all our goals, but we have surpassed the goals set anywhere from 14% to 57%, a huge achievement!  To collect our results we did a four-day survey and questioned 300 women of reproducive age in 30 randomly selected communities where our team is actively working.  We hope with further success of the project that we can continue to be an implementing partner for UNFPA

Highlights of the Project at Mid-Term:

– 92% of women in the survey area know about at least three methods of family planning

– 88% of women in the survery area have spoken to a health worker about family planning

– 71% of women in the survey area received birth spacing counseling

– 49% of women in the survey area report discussing family planning with their spouse or partner

– 39.59% of women in the survey area are currently using a method of family planning

AND

– Unmet need for family planning (those who would like to use family planning but are not currently using a method) has decreased by 12% since June 2011.

Thank you to the family planning team – Kormassah, Joline, Samira and Alphanso for the amazing work!
