Seven members of the Madison Horizons Rotary Club of Madison, Wisconsin will travel to Guatemala this week to help construct a new Casa Materna. Building another Casa Materna is part of our new USAID Child Survival Project and Ronald McDonald House Charities Project in Northwest Guatemala. The Casa Materna is a centrally located birthing center where mothers can receive skilled assistance in giving birth as well as receive prenatal and postnatal care, among various other maternal and neonatal services.
John Thoman, group leader, was in Guatemala with Impact Global Health Alliance in 2003 and other team members have visited the Impact Global Health Alliance’ partner site in Bolivia as previous volunteers. Madison Horizons has been supporting Impact Global Health Alliance for 14 years and we are excited they are helping us increase our capacity to serve others in Guatemala with their service!
