Urgent need of clothing – Guatemala Casa Materna Project need infant clothing

Our Casa Materna Project in rural Guatemala is in urgent need of infant clothing and baby blankets. And you can help! The Casa Materna Maternity Houses provide local women a safe and sanitary location to deliver their babies. In addition to providing maternity resources and education, the casa maternas act as a great relief mothers and children. The number of women these Casa Maternas serve has been growing every year, and the number of births in the four Casa Maternas reached 133 in 2013, up from 95 births the year before. By the end of this year, the number is expected to reach 180.

Why your help is needed?

Many mothers who give birth in the Casa Materna Maternity House are unable to provide adequate clothing or blankets to protect their new babies from the cold, damp weather of the mountains, which can drop to temperatures below freezing during the winter. As a result, the Casa Materna strives to provide each mother with one outfit for her baby, but has limited resources itself.

Where your donation is going: To mothers and children in dire need of clothing.

Help us send each family home with 1 outfit for their new baby! We are collecting new and lightly used infant clothes and blankets to send with our volunteers on August 24, 2014.

You can drop off or mail to our Raleigh office new or gently used clothing and blankets at:
