As we shared in our Fall Grassroots Newsletter, Impact Global Health Alliance is partnering with the Haitian Ministry of Health to provide community-level health promotion and HIV testing services at each of three facilities in southwest Haiti.

Impact Global Health Alliance is connecting these communities with local facilities, an important link missing in reducing HIV incidence and awareness in Haiti.  Staff members called Peer Educators are specially trained to work at the community level to educate individuals about HIV and how and where they can get tested and get treatment, if needed.

Community leaders in the large town of Jérémie also lead a School Ambassador Program, volunteering their time to train students on HIV awareness at a basic and age-appropriate level.  The students then go back to their respective schools and spread the messages on HIV awareness to other students.

Impact Global Health Alliance staff in Haiti have worked with local youth in other capacities including in support for vaccinations.  The need for primary health access and education is great in Haiti and we with closely with our partner and through our leadership on the ground to make a difference.
