Julius Lekpeh traveled to Raleigh early in September to work closely with Impact Global Health Alliance staff.  Julius is the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of the Nehnwaa Child Survival Project in Liberia and he is working at our head office in Raleigh for one month to revitalize the current Monitoring and Evaluation system of the Nehnwaa Project.

Julius helped develop the Project Year Four Monitoring and Evaluation database, and was trained on a new survey methodology to utilize in the project for monitoring purposes.  In addition, a new and improved Monitoring and Evaluation work plan was developed for all three grants currently operating with the Nehnwaa Project.  Julius has also spent time working with other Impact Global Health Alliance staff members on developing their own Monitoring and Evaluation database for other countries.

At the end of September, Julius traveled to Washington, DC for the first time with Program Associate Leah McManus.  They attended lectures at the USAID Mini-University which included training and information on Monitoring and Evaluation Systems and Tools, Organizational Capacity Building, Intervention Integration, Care Group implementation and Maternal Child Health.

Julius was very excited to see the White House for the first time as well as the Washington Monument (although still under repair from this summer's earthquake), the Lincoln Memorial, and the new Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial among other historic sites.  Julius and Leah also made a stop at the Liberian Embassy where they were invited on a private tour of the premises.

It's been a pleasure to get to know Julius better during his visit and we are thankful for his wise leadership of the Nehnwaa Project as we move into our fourth year!
