Welcome to our new Administrative Assistant

Impact Global Health Alliance Global welcomes Jane Thibodeau as our new Administrative Assistant to our office in Raleigh, NC!   Jane has experience working with nonprofit organizations both internationally and in North Carolina, specifically with youth non-profits. Jane has a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology with a minor in Spanish from Appalachian State University. Additionally, she holds a Master’s Degree in International Relations from the Universidad del Salvador in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

To get to know Jane a little better, we conducted a short questionnaire.

What is your history with nonprofit organizations?

During my last year of undergrad, I interned with the North Carolina Farmworker Health Program, which serves as a liaison between the farmworker population and the healthcare system.  Upon graduating, I worked fulltime as an Outreach Worker, conducting home visits and health assessments, and coordinating health services.

I spent the next few years traveling and studying in Latin America. There in,  I volunteered with a number of local NGO’s that focused on assisting at-risk youth and improving environmental sustainability. After finishing grad school and returning to the States, I worked for a nonprofit in a small community in upstate New York to establish a community garden and a children’s gardening program. Before being hired by Impact Global Health Alliance Global, I interned with Urban Ministries in their Cooking Matters program. Therein, I led tours to grocery stores to teach low-income participants how to make healthier choices on a budget.

What are your current responsibilities at Impact Global Health Alliance Global?

My position at Impact Global Health Alliance Global is Administrative Assistant. I am responsible for providing support to our Raleigh office in the areas of operations, fundraising, volunteer programs and marketing. Right now, in addition to learning my way around the office, I am working on the Annual Report, updating our donor database and preparing for our quarterly Board meeting, as well as a number of other administrative duties. One thing that I have learned in my short time is that there’s never a shortage of things to do!

What interests you about Impact Global Health Alliance Global?

The thing that most interests me about Impact Global Health Alliance Global is the organization’s long history of partnering with local communities to bring about lasting change in the well-being and healthcare systems of our program sites. The pillars of Impact Global Health Alliance Global’s philosophy are encouraging community involvement and ownership, increasing the capacity of local organizations. Most importantly, the tailoring of each program to meet the unique needs of each community . These values shape the methodology that helps a small organization like Impact Global Health Alliance achieve such remarkable success rates.

What are your long-term career goals?

This question is always hard for me to answer because I feel like I’m constantly exposed to new ideas and experiences that shape my goals for the future. I do know that I would like to continue working for a nonprofit with a focus on public health, probably in Latin America.

We are so excited that Jane has joined us at Impact Global Health Alliance Global and we are lucky to have her on our team.  We all look forward to seeing what great things Jane will bring to Impact Global Health Alliance Global!
