On April 7th, we celebrated World Health Day with a bang – live music, food, drinks, and a ton of raffle prizes at Kings in downtown Raleigh.
A Bang on with great ambiance
The night started off with a mixer at King’s bar and finger foods generously donated by Whole Foods. The crowd favorite was the tamales, which had many volunteers reminiscing on their travels with us in Central America.
Not long after, Bears in the City took the stage, keeping everyone entertained with catchy beats and thoughtful lyrics. In addition, every couple of songs, Impact Global Health Alliance welcomed past and current volunteers to the stage to announce door prize winners. These lucky winners walked away with coffee samples, Guatemalan jewelry, or their very own (tiny) Bolivian llama.
Once Bears in the City (or the “Three Bears Boy Band,” as Program Manager Florence Amadi dubbed them) wrapped up for the night, Impact Global Health Alliance staff took over to give away dozens of amazing prizes. The prizes came from local businesses, including $50 to the Raleigh Times, brunch for two at Irregardless Café, and a box of handcrafted chocolates from Videri.
A Successful Event
The biggest news of the night? We raised $5,140!!! This money will help us continue our lifesaving health work, including opening new Casas Maternas in Guatemala.Additionally, it will allow us to expand community health delivery in Kenya, and halting the spread of Ebola in rural Liberia.
We sincerely thank everyone who volunteered, donated, or showed up to enjoy the night with us. It was great to see so many faces, and know that we had the support of the Triangle community!
