My name is Meredith and I’m a member of Impact Global Health Alliance’s Young Professionals Board (YPB).
On September 19th I went to Raleigh for Impact Global Health Alliance’s annual fundraiser, Hops for Hope. I was so excited to meet some of my fellow YPB members, staff, and other volunteers and stakeholders to whom this organization means so much.
As attendees entered the event they were able to peruse tables of swag with the new Impact Global Health Alliance logo, annual impact reports and information about trips to the different locations where Impact Global Health Alliance operates worldwide.
The program got underway and was MC’d by Alyssa Rosenfeld and Stacey Archevala of the Young Professionals Board. The attendees heard from Executive Director Andrew Herrara about the evolution of Curamericas Global and the name change to Impact Global Health Alliance. A video of founder Dr. Henry Perry and immediate past chair of the board Tina Jones talked through the history of the organization, why a new name was needed and how change and evolution is an integral part of Impact Global Health Alliance.
Over dinner, attendees listened to presentations from healthcare heroes from our partner clinics in Guatemala, Bolivia, Haiti and Kenya. Through their compelling stories and photos we were able to see the work they do that transforms lives. This was my favorite part of the evening because I was able to learn even more about the work we do around the world.
I was also able to meet my fellow YPB members Alyssa, Stacey and Chad and our Executive Director Andrew Herrara in person for the first time!
I am so grateful to be able to serve on the Young Professionals Board and Hops for Hope was a great opportunity to meet the amazing people who work on the ground every day to save lives and improve health outcomes for women.
