Impact Global Health Alliance Global Names First Program Fellow
Past Intern Joins Staff in New Capacity
Raleigh, NC, September 20, 2018: Impact Global Health Alliance Global is excited to announce Rob Callus, a former program intern, will continue his work with the global nonprofit in a new capacity. Callus will be participating in the organization’s first fellowship. As a fellow, Callus will be working on Impact Global Health Alliance Global’s projects in Africa and Latin America.
“Rob has been an asset to the Impact Global Health Alliance team,” said executive director Andrew Herrera, “we are fortunate to have his experience and passion, as well as his ‘wizardry’ with data.”
Callus will be supporting our Community Birth Center project in Kenya and the Casas Maternas project in Guatemala. These areas have some of the highest child mortality rates in the world. The goal of all these projects is to help reduce childhood and maternal mortality rates by bridging the gap between health facilities and the community by providing health education and outreach. Callus will be conducting research, financial reporting, monitoring and evaluation.
Callus grew up in Apex, N.C. and graduated from the University of Notre Dame with degrees in Health Sciences and Theology. During his time in school, Callus was very active in his university’s Center for Social Concerns. Through the center, he worked as a HIV counselor in a rural clinic in Uganda. Callus also spent two years in Tanzania through the Jesuit Volunteer Corps following graduation. He has been working with Impact Global Health Alliance Global since his return.
“I was drawn to Impact Global Health Alliance, because of the organization’s focus on community-based, culturally-sensitive care,” Callus said. “In many of the countries where we work, community is at the center of the culture.”
Callus’ role also includes the management of Impact Global Health Alliance Global’s comprehensive volunteer program, managing over a dozen university students and office volunteers.
