Impact Global Health Alliance – Thursday, September 18, 2025

Ladies and gentlemen,
Today, I stand before you driven by a profound sense of purpose and a deep commitment to making a difference in the lives of the most vulnerable. Our partnership with Impact Global Health Alliance is rooted in the urgent realities faced by countless communities worldwide—especially in regions where access to basic healthcare is scarce and the struggles are immense, such as in my homeland, Haiti.
Let me begin by sharing some stark facts that underscore the importance of this work:
In Guatemala, nearly every 2.6 days, a young child under five loses their life—amounting to 22.1 children per 1,000 live births in 2022, according to UNICEF. In Haiti, a child under five dies every thirty minutes from preventable causes such as diarrhea and pneumonia. Tragically, maternal mortality is equally alarming—every seven hours, an expectant mother loses her life due to pregnancy-related complications.
Across the globe, proximity to healthcare facilities does not guarantee access to quality care. In rural Kenya, the average distance to a healthcare center is about 1.5 miles—roughly a 40-minute walk. Despite efforts to decentralize healthcare through constitutional reforms in 2020, maternal mortality remains devastatingly high, with 510 women dying for every 100,000 live births. As Dr. Vincent Nyangweso, a dedicated general practitioner in Nairobi, explains, the quality of care is often compromised by outdated equipment, overworked staff, inconsistent standards, and poor communication between patients and providers.
It’s clear: access to health services is often dictated by a person’s purchasing power, leaving many without care or receiving care that doesn’t truly heal. The consequences are heartbreaking—preventable deaths, ongoing suffering, and communities robbed of their potential.
But amidst these challenges, there is hope. We are hope. You are hope. We are all hope.
Impact Global Health Alliance is making a difference through innovative, groundbreaking approaches. They conduct comprehensive censuses to identify all pregnant women and children under two, creating vital registers to track their health. When health workers visit these families at home, they gather essential data—whether mothers give birth in health facilities, if children sleep under mosquito nets, and if mothers know when to wash their hands and how to breastfeed. This proactive, community-based approach ensures that no one remains invisible in the system.
What we do goes beyond data collection. It’s about impact—real, tangible impact that saves lives and builds healthier communities. Our work empowers families with knowledge, promotes preventative health, and fosters sustainable change. When families understand how to protect their children from disease and manage their health, they become active agents of their own wellbeing.
I’ve seen firsthand how these efforts transform lives. In the commune of Cité Soleil in Haiti—the most destitute area of the Western Hemisphere—our programs create hope where there was once despair. Whether in Haiti, Guatemala, or Kenya, our approach builds relationships rooted in trust, education, and empowerment. We move beyond temporary aid, focusing instead on building capacity—enabling communities to take charge of their health and future. It’s about creating a ripple effect that sustains change across generations.
In conclusion, this work matters because every life saved, every child protected, and every mother empowered is a testament to the power of compassion, innovation, and collective action. Together, we can continue bridging gaps, ensuring access to basic quality care, reaching those most in need, and nurturing resilient, healthier communities worldwide.
Let’s support Impact Global Health. Let’s make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
Thank you, and I love you all!
Troy Sanon
